Activity #7 Constellations

 Constellations

What is a constellation?

A constellation is a set of fixed stars or stars, between them they form an imaginary drawing.

Virgo: The Virgin, of symbol, is a constellation of the Zodiac that is in the celestial northern hemisphere. It is located between Leo and Libra, and

is the second largest constellation in the sky.

Libra: Libra is the seventh constellation of the zodiac According to the International Astronomical Union the name, in Latin, of the constellation is Libra. It is one of the 88 modern constellations. It is a

dimly lit constellation that has no stars of the first magnitude.

Taurus: Taurus is one of the constellations of the zodiac, the ox. It sits large and prominent in the night sky, between Aries in the west and Gemini in the east; to the north is Perseus and Auriga, to the southwest Orion, and to the southeast Eridanus and Cetus.

Sagittarius: Sagittarius, with symbol, is a zodiacal constellation located between the Eagle, Capricorn, the Microscope, the Telescope, the Southern Crown, Scorpio, the Serpentarium, Serpent and the Shield. It contains 204 stars visible to the naked eye, among which there are two of second magnitude and eight of third.

Activity #6 Planet of the Solar system

 SOLAR SYSTEM

The solar system is the set formed by the Sun and the eight planets with their respective satellites that rotate around it. They also accompany it in its displacement through the galaxy or the Milky Way dwarf planets, asteroids and innumerable comets, meteorites and interplanetary corpuscles. This system is located about 33,000 light years from the center of the Milky Way.

There are many hypotheses about the origin of the Solar System, the most current theories link its formation with that of the Sun, about 4.7 billion years ago. From an interstellar cloud of gas and dust that fragmented or collapsed, leading to the formation of a primordial solar nebula, and through the union of larger and larger particles the formation of current planets.

VENUS

It is the hottest planet in the solar system, Venus is a very active planet with volcanoes and mountains. Venus size is very much the same as the earth, the earth is only slightly larger. It rotates in the opposite direction of the earth and is therefore uncommon. It takes 243 Earth days to spin just once. Because it is close to the sun a year passes much faster. A day on Venus is not the same as on earth, on earth the sun rises and sets once a day. And at Venus the sun rises every one hundred and seventeen terrestrial days. So the sun rises twice a year on Venus.

Materials

Plastic plate

Permanent marker

Punch

Plastic cane

Hot glue gun

Procedure

We take a plate and stick a paper clock

Once glued we make a hole with the needle

Place the plastic straw on the clock

Look at the clock every hour and you will see how it moves

Activity #4 Big Bang

The Big Bang

Most astronomers believe that the Universe began in the Big Bang about 14 billion years ago. At that time, the entire universe was inside a bubble that was thousands of times smaller than a needle. The universe we know was born.

Time, space and matter began with the Big Bang. In a second, the universe went from smaller than a single atom to larger than a galaxy. As the universe expanded and cooled, energy was transformed into particles of matter and antimatter. The most stable particles called protons and neutrons began to form when the universe was a second old.

After 300,000 years, the universe had cooled to about 3,000 degrees. The universe was filled with clouds of hydrogen and helium gas.

Charles Massier

He was born on the 26 June 1730.

He died on the 12 of April, 1817.

Charles Messier was a French astronomer known for compiling a catalogue of 110 objects in space

Ptolomeo

He was born on 100 dC.

He died on  170 d. C

Ptolemy believed that the earth occupied the center of the universe and that the moon, sun, planets, and stars revolved around it. And he was the one who solved the planetary motion

Tycho Brahe

He was born on 14 of December 1546.

He died on 24 of October, 1601.

Tycho was the first astronomer to perceive the refraction of light, make a complete table, and correct his astronomical measurements for this effect.

Nicolás Copérnico

He was born on 19 of February 1473.

He died on 24 of May, 1543.

first to pose a heliocentric version of the Solar System. At that time the belief was that the Earth was in the center, and all the heavenly bodies revolved  around it

Galileo Galilei

He was born on 15 of February de 1564.

He died on 8 of January, 1642.

The improvement of the telescope, a great variety of astronomical observations, the first law of motion and a decisive support for the "Copernicus Revolution." He has been regarded as the "father of modern astronomy"
